Date of foundation: October 26, 1994, according to Decision No. 616/Ttg by the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. HUFLIT is the first non-state (people-founded) University in Ho Chi Minh City and South Vietnam on the basis of former Saigon Foreign Languages and Information Technology School.
HUFLIT is a tertiary education institution (basing on the credit system) directly supervised and managed by the Ministry of Education and Training. HUFLIT's greatest objective is to educate and train intellectuals to gain a tertiary education, having knowledge related to a specialized field as well as to good practical and professional skills that meet the needs of the market economy. The academic curriculum of HUFLIT is suitable for Vietnamese requirements and comparable to the curriculum of advanced universities in the world. About 70 percent of the students graduated from the first B.A. class (1995-1999) and the second B.A. class (1996-2000) have permanent jobs, and the rest are continuing their studies or learning a free trade. Among those who have got permanent jobs, many of them are working for domestic as well as foreign companies with high requirements. During the time of 1998 and 1999, 100 percent of academic research papers done by students were highly evaluated and awarded with good honors by Ministry of Education and Training. From 1999 to 2000, some of the students of School of Computer Science participated in the nationwide Olympic National Computer Science Contest and won first prize. |
